Proud to be a voice for patients
The thousands of health care professionals who make up the Coalition to Protect Patients’ Rights (CPPR) are proud to be constructively engaged in the ongoing debate over healthcare reform.A couple weeks ago, nearly 50 CPPR physicians came to Washington as part of our fly-In, to share their concerns with Members of Congress about the need to expand access to healthcare while not diminishing the care that hundreds of millions of Americans already have and like.
We support health system reform. We believe that our health care system is the best in the world, and we agree that we can make it better. Too many Americans are being forced to struggle without health coverage – we know there must be a way to extend access to every citizen. We support tax credits, health savings accounts, and vouchers – for those who truly cannot afford health insurance. We also believe that personal ownership of health insurance policies will make each patient a better, more informed advocate for their care and make insurance companies more competitive and offer more services.
We have chosen to be a resource for our elected representatives and are committed to working with them to ensure that any health system reform is reform that works for all patients.
There have been attempts to paint all citizens who want to have input on health care reform with a broad brush. That simply is not fair. We are health care professionals and we have chosen to be a resource for our federally elected officials and are committed to working constructively with them. We are pleased to report that we were well received by Members of Congress during our recent fly-in and we are eager to continue the dialogue in the months ahead.
